Having been a subscriber to Ecocobox since April 2019, nearly two years on I’ve finally got round to writing a review! It’s worth a share and I hope this helps if you have looked at it but are unsure. When I first subscribed, it was marketed as a box for mum and baby but there is now also an option for the box without baby things – great now my baby is two and a half!
Before ordering this box, I had been subscribing to other beauty boxes – I really enjoyed trying new products but I often couldn’t use them up in time before the next month’s box came with more. The ever-growing pile of miniature plastic bottles was creating clutter and like many others I really wanted to reduce the amount of single-use plastic I was using. After a while, I noticed I was annoyingly receiving the same things over and over in these boxes so I cancelled them.
After cancelling my other boxes, I had told myself I wasn’t going to subscribe to any more. I remember spotting Ecocobox online and it didn’t take me long to sign up after reading about it. I liked their ethos and that they included items from small businesses. It was much easier to convince myself to buy a box for baby stuff and I liked that it is delivered every other month and contains full sizes of things that are usable.
When I signed up to the site, I had the mother and baby box. I gave some details about my toddler (then a baby) so that the products for him would be age appropriate. This has worked well and examples of products that have been for him are:
- Cute organic cotton socks
- Fox print lunchbag and stainless steel snackpot (great for weaning and still used now for snacks)
- Bath and body products – all have been great for his skin and some I have reordered
- Soft flannels
- Colouring pencils
At the same time as the baby products there would be some nice things for me! Now, I receive the box without baby products. It’s called just for mum but you definitely don’t need to be a mum to buy it! When you sign up it asks things like your skin type and hair colour to get appropriate products. Sometimes an email is sent out asking you to choose a colour to make sure. Examples of things I have had are:
- Cleansers, moisturisers, exfoliators, lip balms
- Mineral makeup
- Reuseable cleaning pads, konjac sponge and flannel
- Shampoo and Conditioner bars, dry shampoo
- Reuseable straws, bamboo soap dish
- Health products e.g. magnesium spray
- Tasty goodies e.g. organic chocolate, dessert pots
What impresses me the most about this box is the quality of the products. It has introduced me to some brands that have become essentials to me now and I’m really particular about what I use!

The full sizes are another reason why I keep subscribing to this box. It shows the box is genuinely good value for money and it gives the opportunity to see how a product works over time. Moisturisers are a good example of this – sometimes you don’t see instant results but over a week you can see the difference. There are often little extras popped into the box – this month we had a chocolate dessert pot and a money off voucher! There was also another voucher to order a free item from one of the businesses.
The other good thing about full sizes is that I can use them as gifts or pass them on if I’m not keen. I really don’t get on with shampoo bars for example, (I’ve tried plenty) so if I receive those, I give them to a friend who loves using them! I don’t often give anything away but if I do, I know that it is a good quality item that will be enjoyed.
The website has a shop where you can buy individual items, with a discount if you are a member. I have used this to reorder things e.g. a bubble bath that smelt lovely and was kind to my toddlers skin that was really sensitive as a baby. Members also have loyalty points each time they receive a subscriptions box – I’m saving mine up!
The boxes cost £30 every other month and the website says they contain approx £55 of contents – I’d agree with this as I always open my box and think this is worth the money. I think the boxes have improved continuously over the last couple of years too!
